Do You Enjoy Learning?
If the answer is yes then you’re going to love this newsletter.
Welcome to my first ever newsletter. Feels a bit weird to be writing one of these, but I've heard that anything that's worth doing feels weird initially, so it's fine. Of course, even stuff that isn't worth doing feels weird initially - guess we'll just treat this as an experiment.
I want to talk to you this week about what to expect from this newsletter. In case you don’t know I’ve been teaching (in-person and online) and running my own business for over ten years. So, my intention is to share one piece of life advice based on my experiences (read: good and bad). To begin with, I’ll be sharing my ideas about how you can be more productive and how to use your time more wisely.
It took me forever to choose the name for the newsletter. Whenever a new idea is bouncing around in my head, I ask my ‘brainy buddies’ their opinions and ask for honest feedback. Here are names I tossed aside (their comments in brackets):
Work smarter not harder (to sloganish)
Be Productive ( sounds like I’m trying too hard)
Productive Mindset ( not sure)
Discipline yourself ( too strict…) I know I’m such a teacher!
Achieve More ( not catchy enough)
How to productively work from home ( good but too long)
My Favourite Things This Week
Podcast - The interview with music legend Yusuf Cat Stevens on Russell Brand’s podcast, Under the Skin, was surprisingly entertaining and informative. It’s the first time I’ve listened to Russell Brand and I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last.
Book - I’ve been reading Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now by Jaron Lanier. So far, it’s incredible. As you know, it’s way too easy to spend hours on Twitter. Since reading the book, I can hold my head up high and say I’ve stopped aimlessly scrolling through Twitter. Yay! I feel like I’m finally winning! By the way, I like buying used books or borrowing from the library. The link for the book is for Abe books, they sell used books.
Quote of the Week
“We’re being hypnotized little by little by technicians we can’t see, for purposes we don’t know. We’re all lab animals now.” Jaron Lanier
